Government College of Technology, Coimbatore (abbreviated as GCT) is an autonomous state-funded engineering college located in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, India,2019 admissions started. It is affiliated to Anna University.Government College of Technology, Coimbatore was founded in 1945 as Arthur Hope College of Technology named after Arthur Hope by G. D. Naidu. In June 1950, the college moved to its current location in Thadagam Road,Coimbatore. In 1951, the college was renamed as Government College of Technology (GCT). The college was initially affiliated to the University of Madras, later to the Bharathiar University and since the academic year 2001-2002 to Anna University. In 1981, the college was granted autonomy for its civil and mechanical engineering postgraduate programs. Subsequently, in 1987, full autonomy for all programs was granted.

Extra – Curricular Facilities
The Government College of Technology Students’ Co-operative Stores is registered under the Co-operative Societies Act., 1961 of the Government of Tamilnadu. The Principal is the Ex-officio President of the Stores and two staff members render honorary assistance as Vice-President and Secretary of the Stores. Four Directors for the Stores are elected by student representatives. The Store sells books, instruments, stationery and other articles required by the students. The annual turnover of the stores is nearly Rs. 8,00,000/-.All Students become Associate members of the Stores by paying five rupees as associate membership fee.
Library Facilities
The library of the college imparts outstanding facilities and it is known as a place of research, quiet reading and research. The library of the college is the most peaceful place, which imparts progressive knowledge and a friendly atmosphere for the students. The library of the college contains more than one lakh documents consisting of technical books, reports, standards and back volumes of journals. The library subscribes to 89 periodical (print) plus 500+ (e-journals) besides a holding of 25493 bound volumes (back-numbers).

The training and placement cell of the college maintains fruitful relationship between industries& students by organising various activities. The placement cellof the college enhance student’s soft skills and boost their confident for the various challenges they will face in their career. The placement cell trained its students through activities like soft skills development, mock group discussions and guest lecturers etc.
Step 1: The Placement Cell sends invitations to potential recruiters for taking part in campus recruitment process along with the placement brochure.
Step 2: Interested companies respond by sending their company profile along with their requirement and remuneration.
Step 3: The Placement cell coordinates with the recruiters and a mutually agreeable date is selected for conducting recruitment process.
Step 4: Students are informed of the company and details of interested students are sent to the company.
Step 5: Recruitment process is held on the planned date.
Step 6: Offers are awarded on the same day of the placements through the placement cell.
Admission to all undergraduate courses ie. Bachelors in Engineering (B.E.) are carried out through the single window system of the Anna University. Students can choose the courses based upon the state-wise rank calculated by their marks in Higher Secondary Examination conducted by the Department of Education, Government of TamilNadu.
Reservations are provided for BC/MBC/DNC/SC/ST etc as per the rules of the Government of TamilNadu.
Reservations are also provided for Physically handicapped / Ex-Service men / Sports persons / Other state candidates.
Candidates having passed 10+2 Higher Secondary Examination with 50% marks as aggregate. , having Mathematics as a subject of study and obtained 80 marks out of 200 in NATA(National Aptitude Test for Architecture) test in any one of the attempt.
TNEA Admission process will commence after the counselling is over. Candidates have to report in the allotted colleges and submit the fees and complete the admission formalities.Candidates will have to verify there documents in the respective colleges and then pay the admission fees.
Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions (TNEA) was conducted by Anna University previously. But from the few years there will be no entrance exam for admission in various engineering colleges. The candidates will get the admission on the basis of their class XII percentage. The candidates who are meeting the eligibility criteria will be eligible for the undergraduate courses offered by the various engineering colleges of Tamil Nadu. The application form of TNEA 2020 will be available only in online mode. After filling in the online registration of TNEA application form 2020, the candidate will have to send printout of the completed online application in person or by post to:

The application form must be accompanied by photocopies of relevant certificates and photographs and must reach the above mentioned address on or before the last date. The registration fee must be paid only online. Candidates must pay the registration fee as per the category they belong to, or else their applications will be rejected.
When filling the application form of TNEA 2020, care must be taken to enter only genuine information. The TNEA application form 2020 will include fields like education details and personal details. Also, when uploading any documents, the candidate must conform to the prescribed format.
The admission into engineering colleges in Tamil Nadu will be based on class 12th Percentage. Candidates, those scores good marks in 10+2 examination, the priority will be given to them. On the basis of 12th percentage, the authority will release rank list. The TNEA Results/rank list will be published in the 4th week of June 2020. Candidates will get admission in the engineering Institution on the basis of the merit list.
The counselling of TNEA 2019 will be carried out according to merit and category-wise reservation of seats. Higher ranked candidates will be called for counselling of TNEA 2019 first and have more options to choose from. Candidates can pick their choices of branches and colleges from the available options at the time of counselling. Counselling will be held in offline mode and the candidate has to be present in person. If the candidate is unable to attend counselling for some unavoidable reasons, the parent of the candidate is allowed to attend counselling on behalf of the candidate.
Candidates who get shortlisted for counselling of TNEA 2020 have to pay the counselling fee either through Cash or DD. On the day of counselling, the candidate must also bring along originals of all relevant documents.
