SASTRA University ,2020 Admissons started. SASTRA University started in 1984 in the form of Shanmugha College of Engineering, affiliated to the Bharathidasan University,Trichy. In 2001 it was renamed as Shanmugha Arts, Science, Technology & Research Academy. It was the first institution to get the ‘Deemed University status’ in Tamil Nadu. Srinivasa Ramanujam Center at Kumbakonam is affiliated to it.In 2011, software company Tata Consultancy Services set a world record of recruiting 1,500 students from SASTRA, the largest recruitment by any company in the world from a single campus.Undergraduate and postgraduate engineering courses are its focus. Admissions are through merit (marks from HSC and JEE (Main) and NRI Quota). The counseling is usually done during the later half of June with the college opening for freshers in the month of July.Admissions to the I year B.Tech., Programme are based on the marks secured in the +2 qualifying examination following the normalization process. To bring all candidates from different examining Authorities / Boards in the same scale of comparison and to create a list in the order of merit, the +2 marks are normalized. A first rank student of each board is considered to have obtained 100% mark and aggregate mark of all other students of the board are normalized with reference to that of the first rank student.

B.S Abdur Rahman University has an exclusive placement and training cell headed by Mr. Mohamed Tajudeen. Every year, the process is streamlined as per convenience of students and recruiters. The placement process begins with Pre- Placement talks by companies, usually scheduled in the month of August and the placement process commences from the month of September. Participation by a large number of reputed organizations year-after-year for recruitment bears testimony to the reputation companies have for the institution.
The primary function of the placement office is three fold, the first and foremost is creating awareness about the placement process through a series of awareness programmes. The next task is to train them to face the forthcoming placement seasons through a set of placement training through experts in the sector. The last but the most important function is to streamline the as per convenience of students and recruiters. The placement process begins with Pre- Placement talks by companies, usually scheduled in the month of August and the placement process commences from the month of September. An elaborate slotting criteria is used to slot the companies for the placement process
In the academic year 2013_14, 353 students have been placed through campus recruitments. In the academic year 2014_15, 433 students have got placed and in the current academic year 2015_16, 516 * students have got placed (* still the recruitment process is on progress).
