About Us:
The foundation stone for the Madras Agricultural College and Research Institute was laid in Coimbatore on 24th September, 1906 by the then Governor of Fort St. George, Sir Arthur Lawley.
Students were first admitted into the Agricultural College at Coimbatore in 1908 for an educational programme leading to Licentiate in Agriculture (L.Ag.). The Agricultural College and Research Institute was opened by Sir Arthur Lawley on July 14, 1909. In 1920, the college was affiliated to the Madras University and a new course of study leading to a degree in Agriculture, B.Sc. (Ag.) was introduced and the first batch came out in 1923. To start with, only eight students were admitted for the three year degree course, the qualification for admission being a pass in the Intermediate examination with 11 years of study in school and two years of Intermediate before entering the Agricultural College, thus bringing the total duration of study for an Agricultural graduate to 16 years. The number of students admitted to the college gradually increased from eight in 1920 to forty eight in 1926.

Admission Procedure:
The TNAU (Tamil Nadu Agricultural University) will be inviting applications from qualified aspirants who are willing to apply for admissions in its new academic session 15-16 most probably during May, 2016. TNAU offers numerous UG and PG programmes at its different affiliated schools and institutes. Application Procedure:
Qualified and eager students, who accomplish criteria of eligibility as per the official prospectus or as mentioned above, can apply via online mode for the admissions. Candidates can go through the following points to successfully apply for TNAU Admissions- 2020:-
- Basically, the candidates will have to create an application account by enrolling themselves for admission procedure with a unique password & username.
- Once you create this application account, you are supposed to enter all the particulars on the system created application format and take a hard copy of it.
- After this, you will have to pay your prescribed Application charge by a Challan slip in favor of “TNAU- Power Jyoti Account”, which can be paid at any branch of SBI.
- At the end, after the payment of the fee, post/ mail the print out of your system generated application, the Challan copy, and xerox of other important credentials which are required along with your form to the below mentioned address:-

Criteria for Eligibility:
For Undergraduate Programmes- Applicants must have passed their Higher Secondary Exam with Science stream under CBSE or any equivalent board of education.
