The Kongu Vellalar Institute of Technology Trust was founded in Erode district, Tamil Nadu, in October 1983 by forty one philanthropists of Kongu Vellalar Community,2019 admissions started. The Trust established Kongu Engineering College in 1984. Other institutions founded by the Trust are Kongu Polytechnic College in 1983, Kongu Arts and Science College in 1994, Kongu Industrial Training Center in 1997 and Kongu National Matriculation Higher Secondary School in 2002.
It is one of the foremost multi professional a research-led institution is internationally a recognized leader in professional and career-oriented education. The college is accredited by AICTE and is affiliated to Anna University of Technology, Coimbatore. The vision of KEC is to be a centre of excellence for development and dissemination of knowledge in applied science, technology, engineering and management for the nation and beyond.
The college library was established in 1984, housed in a classroom with 700 books. In 1986 when the college was shifted to its permanent building, the library occupied a lecture hall in the first floor of the main building. In 1991, it was shifted to the present building, C.D. Memorial Library, in honor of the founder Correspondent, Thiru. C. Duraisamy. In 2005, the library building was extended from five sections to 12 sections with discussion rooms, modern furniture, and air conditioning. The new building includes a hall for Video-Conferencing.
The digital library has a collection of CDs and floppy disks including sources such as GRE, GMAT, TOEFL and ISI codes. In addition, 529 audio and video cassettes are available in the department libraries. It provides a number of Online Electronic Database like IEEE, ACM, ASME and ASCE online CD-ROM databases. Proquest science online journals are also available in CD-ROMs.
All the classrooms are well furnished.
Institute has well equipped labs with all modern facilities in all departments.

The college library established in the year 1984, was housed in a classroom with 700 books to start with. The Library transactions and library entries are carried out by Bar Code Technology. It has the facility of Web OPAC-online search. So the library catalog can be accessed through intranet, in future through internet. Also, the library has 57 Digital surveillance cameras for the proper vigilance.

The placement cell at KEC has been functioning since 1998. The cell interacts with reputed organizations in order to arrange campus interviews for placement of final year students. The placement cell also arranges in plant training for students in industries. The students visit the industrial units and companies to gain first-hand work experience of various industrial activities.Students are well trained before the completion of their final year course. The college offers jobs in well known companies of India and also provides a platform to build the career. Main recruiters are:Wipro, Infosys, CTS, Cognizent and many more. The Placement Cell was established in 1998. The cell arranges campus interviews with organizations for placement of final year students, and arranges in-industry training for students. Campus placement training (HR, Technical, GD, Written Test) is given in the pre-final year for all eligible candidates.
Admission to all undergraduate courses ie. Bachelors in Engineering (B.E.) are carried out through the single window system of the Anna University. Students can choose the courses based upon the state-wise rank calculated by their marks in Higher Secondary Examination conducted by the Department of Education, Government of TamilNadu.
Reservations are provided for BC/MBC/DNC/SC/ST etc as per the rules of the Government of TamilNadu.
Reservations are also provided for Physically handicapped / Ex-Service men / Sports persons / Other state candidates.
Candidates having passed 10+2 Higher Secondary Examination with 50% marks as aggregate. , having Mathematics as a subject of study and obtained 80 marks out of 200 in NATA(National Aptitude Test for Architecture) test in any one of the attempt.
TNEA Admission process will commence after the counselling is over. Candidates have to report in the allotted colleges and submit the fees and complete the admission formalities.Candidates will have to verify there documents in the respective colleges and then pay the admission fees.
Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions (TNEA) was conducted by Anna University previously. But from the few years there will be no entrance exam for admission in various engineering colleges. The candidates will get the admission on the basis of their class XII percentage. The candidates who are meeting the eligibility criteria will be eligible for the undergraduate courses offered by the various engineering colleges of Tamil Nadu. The application form of TNEA 2019 will be available only in online mode. After filling in the online registration of TNEA application form 2019, the candidate will have to send printout of the completed online application in person or by post to:

The application form must be accompanied by photocopies of relevant certificates and photographs and must reach the above mentioned address on or before the last date. The registration fee must be paid only online. Candidates must pay the registration fee as per the category they belong to, or else their applications will be rejected.
When filling the application form of TNEA 2019, care must be taken to enter only genuine information. The TNEA application form 2019 will include fields like education details and personal details. Also, when uploading any documents, the candidate must conform to the prescribed format.
The admission into engineering colleges in Tamil Nadu will be based on class 12th Percentage. Candidates, those scores good marks in 10+2 examination, the priority will be given to them. On the basis of 12th percentage, the authority will release rank list. The TNEA Results/rank list will be published in the 4th week of June 2018. Candidates will get admission in the engineering Institution on the basis of the merit list.
The counselling of TNEA 2018 will be carried out according to merit and category-wise reservation of seats. Higher ranked candidates will be called for counselling of TNEA 2018 first and have more options to choose from. Candidates can pick their choices of branches and colleges from the available options at the time of counselling. Counselling will be held in offline mode and the candidate has to be present in person. If the candidate is unable to attend counselling for some unavoidable reasons, the parent of the candidate is allowed to attend counselling on behalf of the candidate.
Candidates who get shortlisted for counselling of TNEA 2019 have to pay the counselling fee either through Cash or DD. On the day of counselling, the candidate must also bring along originals of all relevant documents.
