It is the 11th largest city in Tamilnadu.Thanjavur is famous for the Brahadishwara temple ( Big temple) built by Rajarajachola during 11th century. It is one of the UNESCO world heritage sites.It is also the home of the tanjore painting, a painting style unique to the region.Thanjavur Medical college shines as a precious gem in the crown of Thanjavur.
The Thanjavur Medical College was started in the year 1959, to cater the Health care needs of about 1 Crore people in and around Thanjavur District. From that day, it has gradually grown up as a Multi-speciality postgraduate institution. Thanjavur Medical College has two Hospitals namely Govt. Raja Mirasdar Hospital and Thanjavur Medical College Hospital.Located in a vast landscape of 228 acres, this college provides training for 150 M.B.B.S, 67 Postgraduate students of different Specialities, 60 Pharmacy students and 125 Nursing students every year. This institution now admits students for the various certificate courses introduced by Govt. of Tamilnadu for Paramedical Technicians like Theatre Technicians, Anaesthesia Technicians, ECG Technicians etc.,

Admission Procedure:
The Vinayaka Mission University (VMU) will conduct the All India Level Common Entrance Examinations – 2018(AICEE – 2018) for those candidates who want to take admission into the Medicine, Homoeopathy, Dentistry, Nursing, Physiotherapy, Pharmacy, Allied Health Sciences, Engineering & Technology, Architecture (based on NATA), Management, Computer Applications, Education, Arts & Sciences courses in this university.
VMU 2018 Eligibility Criteria:
-The candidate should have appeared and passed the HSC Examination from a recognized board or any other equivalent examination from any other state board or international board.
-Candidates who are appearing in the 12th standard board exams are also eligible for applying and appearing in this examination.
-Candidates belonging to any state/union territory of India are eligible to appear in this examination.
-The candidate must have passed the qualifying examination with a minimum of 50% marks in the aggregate and the same number has been decreased down to 40% in case of reserved categories.
-The candidate must be at least of 17 years in age.
VMU AICEE 2018 Exam Pattern :
Questions will be asked from the subjects namely Chemistry, Physics and Biology (Botany or Zoology).
Exam duration will be of 3 hours.
VMU 2018 Exam Date/Important Event:
Last Date for receipt of admission : Mid of May 2017
Date of Exam : End of May 2017
Exam Time : 10:00 am to 1:00 pm.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Nationality:Candidates should be an Indian Nationals or OCI (Overseas Citizen of India).
- Age Limit:
Minimum– The minimum age limit is 17 years on 31st December of the year of admission.
Maximum – The maximum age limit is 25 years for general candidates and 30 years for reserved categories. - Qualification:Students must have passed/appearing 12th or equivalent examination from any recognized board with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Bio-technology or any other elective subject with English.
- Percentage Criteria:Students must have secured minimum 50% marks in PCB group for general candidates and 45% (for general PH) and 40% (for SC/ST/OBC categories).

- The students who have passed D.Pharm course with minimum 40% marks in aggregate or 35% for SC / ST. Such students can directly take admission into second year B.Pharm through counseling conducted by the Selection Committee of DME, Chennai OR by direct admission as management quota without counseling
